IF YOU ARE PRAYING FOR A BREAKTHROUGH, PLEASE READ THIS!
The military notion is a breakthrough. A breakthrough occurs, enabling one army to enter and seize its enemy's land when another army's soldiers are weakened to the verge of exhaustion.
However, in a battle, a discovery is only truly significant if it takes place in a key area. And nearly invariably, the number of enemy soldiers gathered to defend a site will indicate that it is strategically important. In order to fiercely defend what it values greatly, an opponent headed by seasoned generals prepares to do so.
This tells an invasion force that it may expect to encounter a wall of ferocious enemy resistance in its quest to make a breakthrough. Every time a new strategic development occurs, warfare becomes more and more fierce. It is challenging to gain strategic footing.
Strong Forces Resist Our Advancements
This applies to both armed conflicts on land and in the spirit. The church is an occupying entity in the spiritual world in contrast to the worldly one. Jesus plainly wants us to be perpetrators rather than just defenders, despite the fact that we may easily fall into a cautious, circular attitude. In accordance with the Great Commission, "go and evangelize of all countries" (Matthew 28:19). That is aggressive rhetoric in a society where "the power of the wicked one" is at work (1 John 5:19). Our goal is to set free everybody the devil has imprisoned to do his bidding (2 Timothy 2:26).
Do not give up in your prayer for a breakthrough if you are not experiencing one. Change is met with opposition first.
However, it's important to remember that strategic land is not always readily conceded. We are up against "spiritual evil forces in the heavenly regions," whether we are fighting for victories over our own obstinate sin, the disbelief of a loved one, or victories over our local church's missionary advancement, connecting unreached persons, rescuing persecuted Christians, orphans, sex slaves, or the unborn (Ephesians 6:12). These forces are quite powerful, albeit we are unsure precisely what that entails.
The Case of Daniel
An overview of what's going on is provided in Daniel 10:12–14. An heavenly entity eventually appeared with an answer to Daniel's prayers after he'd been praying and partly fasting for 21 days to acquire further understanding of the insights he had obtained (Daniel 10:3). The courier said he had attempted to reach Daniel for all those 21 days but had been prevented from doing so by "the ruler of the country of Persia." He needed to be let free, thus Michael the top angel had to go.
For us, Daniel's experience serves as a model. It's not only a matter of praying and fasting for 21 days and then calling on Michael to come and aid you in defeating cosmic forces. However, it serves as an illustration of what occurs out of our line of sight. Scripture would have provided more information about the angelic world, but God only wants us to know what he has already revealed to us. But it's obvious that he wants us to be aware that there is so much going on than what meets the eye so that we'll fast and pray to him until he responds.
Satan reacts to God's movements.
Every important act of God is always preceded by a period of progressively challenging, discouraging resistance, according to a pattern that is evident throughout the Bible. And we may see why if we consider Ephesians 6, Daniel 10, as well as other scriptures about conflict seriously: God is encroaching on what Satan sees as his area. The boundaries of the dark realm are being breached by God's reign (Colossians 1:13).
Prayer is necessary for true spiritual development. To make our adversaries more vulnerable, pray.
We probably aren't assaulting a key place if we aren't running into resistance. However, if we are, then we are right on track. We must concentrate our attack on areas where the opponent is bolstering his troops.
If we're going to make a breakthrough in an area where the adversary has strongholds, there will be a violent battle. Volleys of fiery darts will be fired at us (Ephesians 6:16). On the back, they're going to assault us. Inside the camp, there will be spies. Accusations, intimidation, and jeers will all be there. Attempts will be made to undermine our resolve and spirit.
An Appeal for Breakthrough Decision
Thus, holy resolve is required in response to this. Continue to pray and never give up hope (Luke 18:1). There are several battles, just as there are in every major conflict. Some innovations happen very rapidly, while others need a lot more time and steadfast persistence. The ability to continue the attack is necessary for breakthroughs in either case.
Prayer alone rarely results in breakthroughs; action and bravery are usually required. However, without prayer, no real spiritual progress can be made. To undermine our spiritual opposition, focused, targeted, persistent, and prevailing prayer is required—often by two or more people (Matthew 18:19). Also very beneficial is fasting. Fasting examines the position of the heart. And a powerful blow is delivered against Satan when it becomes clear that the heart belongs to the Lord and not to the world ).
Therefore, if you're praying for a breakthrough but not seeing it, or even if you're feeling more tempted than before to quit primarily due to discouragement, frustration, exhaustion, uncertainty, or cynicism, don't give up. Every time a new strategic development occurs, warfare becomes more and more fierce. It is challenging to gain strategic footing. There's a lot more opposition than you may realize. To the contrary, "he who lives in you is greater than he who is in the world" (1 John 4:4). He will uphold justice for you because he overcame the world (John 16:33). (Luke 18:8).
Remain, optimistic saints. Expand your resolve. A discovery is on the horizon.
