The best defense against false teachings is to know the truth. We should study the Bible and discern what it teaches about different issues. In 2 Timothy 2:15, Paul encourages Timothy to "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth."

Test the Teachings:
We should test the teachings of our pastors against the Bible. In Acts 17:11, the Berean Jews were commended for examining the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Similarly, in 1 John 4:1, we are told to test the spirits to see whether they are from God.

Pray for Discernment:
We should pray for discernment and wisdom when listening to our pastors. In James 1:5, we are told that if we lack wisdom, we should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault.

Address the Issue with the Pastor:
If we believe that our pastor is preaching on unbiblical and personal ideologies, we should address the issue with them in a respectful and loving manner. In Matthew 18:15, Jesus tells us to go to our brother if we have a problem with them.

Seek Counsel from Other Leaders:
If the issue persists, we should seek counsel from other leaders in the church or from a trusted Christian friend. In Proverbs 15:22, we are told that plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers, they succeed.
